Capture a single horizontal 2 x 4 between two vertical 2 x 4 posts. Use 2- 1/4" bolts to secure the horizontal piece. these sections are 42" wide and hold about 500 bdft each. You could make a 49" wide section for plywood.

Mine are spaced 4' apart with the back section 2' from the back wall. If you begin with a layer of 12' lumber the racks will then hold anything 8 to 16'.

We used this style racks for 30 years when we sold hardwood lumber. What you see in the picture are the left overs from the business.
