I've used scraps of BB in outdoor, unfinished applicatioins (temporary, only for a few years :D ) and it held up better than painted CDX in my view. I wouldn't hesitate to use it as you describe, the stuff is high quality, but not nearly as cheap as CDX.

BTW, don't run BB edges on your jointer, you end up with a corrigated blade. Glue in that stuff is HARD! :D
