Subject:
cupboard/drop down table

Glenn Jordan
>Years ago, in the rural South, many homes had a combination cupboard and drop down table in the kitchen. In a small kitchen, with a shortage of cabinet space, the table could be lowered for use as a dough board. At meal time, it was used as a kitchen/dining table. The cupboard was used to store condiments, jams and jellies, etc. When not in use, the table was raised up as the front of the cupboard and fastened. In turn, the leg was also raised and attached to the bottom of the table. Any idea what these were called? Does anyone know where information can be obtained on these and/or plans?
