>I've used one on my 18" Model 180 for years. There are two types of set ups for Powermatic grinders. The older type used a grinding wheel to establish the bevel on the knives and then a fixed stone to "joint" the knives. The newer grinders use only the grinding wheel to grind the bevel and then by shifting the indexing collar on the cutterhead, the grinding wheel grinds a smaller secondary bevel. No "jointing" required. The new system is excellent! Be sure to grind slowly and take off very little metal with each pass. If you have an older planer, it may not have the new indexing collar on the cutterhead and you will have to purchase one used or new from Powermatic. Powermatic also recommends the use of a diamond point wheel dresser to keep the grinding stone clean and true to the centerline of the cutterhead.
