I recently acquired a handleless bevel edged socket chisel, 6" blade, 8" edge to end of socket, 5/16 neck and 5/8 max diameter socket. Cleaning it up revealed " Stanley " above "made in USA " on the socket, and a "16" stamped on top end of the blade ( facing the handle ). I had picked it up thinking it was a 5/8 chisel, but it IS slightly wider, and does measure 16mm. Has someone modified this, or did Stanley ( USA ) ever produce metric chisels?
