you can ding edges, I guess, but it actually happens little in there. Or maybe I should say, I don't remember it ever happening - once the handles touch each other (probably not so great for handles), everything goes in kind of straight and I don't use much.

Yes on the chisels - they're inexpensive because they're used (the big ones). No clue what they'd be new. They're really well finished - not late kiyotada well, but far better than the typical $80 bench chisel.

I never bother much to see who the maker is on the chisels that I get off of buyee as I figure if they were a maker of historical significance (as far as value goes), someone else would pick them off before me.
