Interesting, you may want to expand your description to include the type of iron you're using now. Is it tapered or parallel? Cut or uncut (i. e. Double or single iron)? Is it laminated cast steel?
If you want to keep the original mark, probably the simplest solution is to cut the stamp and attached it to a new iron, maybe by riveting it.
I have an iron made of HSS I got from China, as you can see from the picture, they braised the bit. In theory, what you want to do is feasible.
