Nice job on the new parer! As others have said, you're going for the professional look. Very clean looking!
My favorite new/old files are the Hellers. The ones with the white paint on the tang. They are very hard and last a long time. And, they can be resharpened by Boggs (or other methods) and they still keep cutting well, especially the more coarse cuts.
Unfortunately, with your new chisel-making-from-file endeavors, it will be harder for those who actually enjoy using these excellent files to find them! They will have been transformed into chisels!
I might have some worn old files if you would like them. I keep some on hand that can't be sharpened to make, well, chisels and other edge tools...
