This is perhaps the best description of nuance I've read, and an explanation of why paid instructors apply dogma when training beginners.

When starting out *any* repeatable method will do. It's only after sawing a half mile or planing a basketball court can a user register feedback from tools and materials.

"If a beginner takes to heart the concern over some bit on a stone resulting in a 0.001" line on a chiseled dovetail socket they risk getting bogged down with irrelevant worries and never make a piece of practical furniture."
