it's nice to have a strong edge on a draw knife without having a fat edge.
It's also nice to finish the edge with a buffer after a mediums stone rather than working the very long edge around on a bench stone or with a block with abrasive on it.
Thanks for pointing that use out. I hadn't thought of it.
This is also another point where some kind of buffing medium finds use for those resisting buying any kind of buffer or arbor to buff.
I didn't buy a buffer for this process, at least not how we're using it. It is one of the ideal tools for the theory of spontaneous junk (if you keep enough junk around, eventually something useful will occur or spring from it).
