I agree with half of what you say John. :)

The chisel indeed cuts well, but I would disagree that an amateur's time is less valuable than someone in production. I am much happier working wood than steel. I am willing to put in whatever time is mandatory to get the edge I need, but a quick sharpening lets me get back to what I am doing sooner and doesn't really disrupt my "flow." Plus if honing is quick, I am much more likely to do it as soon as necessary rather than later than ideal.
