The DMT 8000 fixed diamond would work great for alloy steel after the 15u grind. It punches above its grit rating, and you would ‘t need a middle stone. I use mine on all alloy now (XHP, PMV11, 3V, A2, M2), with the 8000 used as the primary stone, and followed by natural waterstones to refine the diamond cuts, and a few licks on a green strop. Just spray it with any lubricant to keep the diamonds from getting torn out—I use water, but anything would work.
