Rum
Question: how much does grit shape actually matter?

Basis:
I've read that sharper valleys (such as those given by some? types of diamonds) have more rapid failure modes (further justification for post-diamond stropping?).

I've also read some comments about one reason the belgian coticule's were desirable was due to the garnets having a rather round/soft cutting profile (even though they are rather large in modern terms in the 5-15 micron range) thus yielding a "smoother" surface on the resulting edge (desirable on razors).

How much this matters with some of the extremely fine stuff we can get now is debatable - hence asking the question :)
