Wood scraps

Jeremy Osner
I'm well on my way towards cleaning up my shop space, it's closer to organized than it has been in the last 15 years... One thing I'm wondering about is what to do about wood scraps. I have a lot of pieces of wood in sizes from a few inches to a few feet long, and a few boards 8' or longer. The cut pieces are either offcuts that I saved and/or pieces that I cut/surfaced for projects I started and then abandoned... I'm wondering what to do with them. Any ideas? I have a 2-year-old grandnephew, I'm thinking I can smooth a bunch of the small pieces (and maybe cut up and smooth a few of the bigger pieces) and give him a set of blocks. At some point I guess I'll hire a dumpster, I hate to throw out wood though.
