Thanks for all the good advice. To add some detail, it will be a top for a bookcase (Stickley #700 bookcase), so it could be pulled down somewhat as Bill suggests. I'm working on planing twist out of one of the side pieces, and did make the mistake of flattening the cup first. The wood is QSWO.
Someone needs to build a steam-vaccuum-kiln-press to flatten boards. Sort of like a dry cleaner for woodworkers. I wonder if the neighbor's sauna would get hot enough...
