Wiley, you have apparently already accomplished your repair. Good. For what it's worth, I've done this repair before by resting the head end (back side) of the rivet on the horn of a small bench anvil I have and gently and carefully tapping the post (the business end of the rivet) with the ball end of a small ball peen hammer. I probably didn't get perfect symmetry on the mushroomed end of the rivet, but it worked just fine and has held up well for a number of years.
