How old is your diamond plate () Winston
There is a breaking in period for these plates where they start out exceptionally aggressive and eventually settle in to the grit they are suppose to be.
I've had this one for several months. It's actually the second one I've had. The first one was not quite flat -- with a good straightedge on it, I was able to fit a .05 mm (.002 inch) feeler gauge between the straightedge and plate. When I contacted Trend about it, they had me send it in and they sent back a new one.
It's definitely much less aggressive than it was in the beginning.
