Gosh...

I've seen george scuffing veneer in his harpsichord video, and never did mention much to him about it. I know the round scraper that's shown in that video where marcus or larry is thicknessing a guitar top is something that george purpose made quickly (think infill scraper made in about an hour).

But to see articles like this,

Why does everyone want to do everything the hard way? When there's a mention of Colonial Williamsburg, I get it that people see the single iron planes there and want to do it like the museum does it, but the museum put a constraint on the staff that the rest of the world doesn't have (not allowed to use double irons because the curators determined that they weren't common enough there in the 18th century).

About a month ago, I planed three ribboned guitar bodies. Stanley 4, washita. A minute or two each after jointing them. One was khaya (the crumbliest of the bunch) and the other two were honduran.

I don't read FWW (not much on tools or guitars), but that guy's got real creds. Such a simple thing to learn, and he's forgoing it for who knows what reason.

(ahh...I finally see what the problem is - he's actually working at CW, so he's not allowed to use a double iron).
