Well, i'm compromised by using the jig to keep specific angles recorded. So about twice as long as it normally would take me because i'm faffing with garbage.
I'd say 3-4 minutes. It's somewhat intolerable.
Out of the plane to planing again normally is probably 2 minutes. I hate giving up hand control of the nuances of sharpening and maintaining curvature. All of those things can be done with a jig, but you just do not have the full range of touch with the jig - it's like going back to black and white television after having color.
