Subject:
No advantage to me for CBN wheel

Bill Tindall, E.Tn.
I looked to people, and suppliers, grinding tool steel in machine shops for guidance. The pink wheel for my grinder cost about $30. (Wheels for surface grinders are cheap from tool room supply houses) I have used it for about 10 years. I have a new back up but probably will never need it. I can crown it to my specifications which is why I can grind a Stanley blade at 3600 rpm, 120 grit.

If I was grinding a lot of lathe tools I would buy a "Ceramic" seeded gel abrasive wheel in a K hardness for about $60.
