..my comments about finding a taiwanese grinder are out of date. Dayton and others are listed as made in china now. That's a shame.

Baldor grinders are nice, of course, but expensive and generally the guards do not work with the CBN wheels. I have the 6" cast baldor and have to leave the outer cover off, which normally wouldn't be a big deal except I have small children.

There are narrower CBN wheels that will work with baldor's cast guards, though. It's nice to have the guard, and the partial guard covers the left side of my wheel, and I stand on that side of the grinder while it's working so I'm not in the arc of unprotected wheel surface anywhere.
