My very first set had convex backs like that and I'll admit that I ground a good part of them flat.

I can't recall if yours came back to you. I told rob I didn't want the m4 chisel back. I keep at least one has chisel around to trim or scrape the junction of wood and metal when making infill, but any inexpensive hss chisel is fine for that.

Still, I appreciate rob's efforts, even though the thread got a bit disjointed and it would be nice to have someone else see if they could duplicate some of the results.
