Hello All,

Would "odorless lamp oil" be appropriate for honing? It is a highly refined kerosene-like fuel oil. It is what I use for "wet" sanding on the ebony, silver and pearl portions of the violin bows I make. I start with 400 grit and work up to 2500. The oil does evaporate in a few hours. I've not seen a residue when dried.

I've used this oil for honing for a few years now. Maybe I shouldn't?

John
