Coloring wood *PIC*

Jeremy Osner
I want to put color on part of this neck. My idea was just to mix dry pigments with turpentine, and paint them on the bare wood. But now I'm wondering if that will work at all. I was thinking the solvent would get the pigment into the wood, and then I could put varnish or Tru-oil on top of that. Will that work? Maybe I should try aniline dye instead. Or maybe should mix the pigments and turpentine with varnish.
