Subject:
Spoke shave jammings

Philip Duffy
I have a handful of spoke shaves, including one I built from a kit, one by a noted maker, and a couple of Stanley's. Then, there is my one and only one that never clogs up and it cuts like a razor all the time. I have no idea who made it but it must be old. The handle is a round steel, bent into a long loop for the handles. That baby is so wonderful I am afraid to take it apart to sharpen the blade. All the others jam with shavings at the throat. Should I just file/sand the throat to open them up? There must be a right way and location. All help accepted with cheers! Phil
