Frank's saw is faster than a fret or coping saw. In the video you can see the cut made in one or two strokes...removing all the waste. I believe Frank used this method when cutting utility dovetails, such as the shipping crates he used to ship furniture, or in a situation where dovetails provided the strength, but were hidden is some way. Using a fret of coping saw to remove the bulk of waste and finishing with a chisel in 'fine' dovetails is not the same. Each method stand on its own.
