Re: Question about blade holding

John, I have twice answered and deleted my posts. I did not wish it to appear negative. You do such beautiful work, and the ivory looks sublime.

My concern is the combination of a round cross bar and a wedge. Now I do not know the compression characteristics of ivory, but I would not recommend the combination of wood and round crossbar. The crossbar would eventually create a depression in the wood, and then the wedge would not be able to tighten up. The solution is to file a flat under the crossbar - Krenov created a triangular crossbar that would rotate, which mated it and the wedge at all times.

Thoughts?

Regards from Perth

Derek
