It is a Gustav Stickley music cabinet. The tenon is 1/2" thick and the peg 1/4". The tenon is 1-1/4" back from the front of the case. The tenon is about 2-1/2" wide and the peg goes about halfway into the tenon. In theory it might "weaken" the tenon but this piece is way over built to begin with. When the tenon is in place there isn't any where for anything to go. I couldn't make the case rack or wobble either before or after the pegs were in.
