Just to follow up. It was easier than expected.

I couldn't flex this blade like a thinner handsaw. However I've got my Grandfather's old anvil, which doesn't have any sharp corners anywhere. I suspect it was already old before he got it over 100 years ago. This wasn't a bad thing though, since there was a depression around the Hardy Hole, which I figured I could use to my advantage by hammering the crown over that slight hollow.
