I'm not surprised that the planes are bright - they've been little used and stored away from light. I'm glad to see that they're bright like that, as I always thought the six pairs that I've made look funny as bright as they are.

Agree on the saw handles. No slight to Mike Wenzloff, he used to say that he was trying to get nice saws made for a price that would get them in as may hands as possible, but the lines on the Seaton chest saws are the finest I've ever seen. Crisp and unquestionable taste. There are workers now who can duplicate them (some of George's saws have exceptionally crisp lines and delicate details if he chooses to make them that way), but very few saws available to the public that are made so well.

I hate to say it, but I can't make a handle as good as the handles on the seaton saw, and I don't know enough history to say for sure, but I doubt that the maker was "making saws for a special chest". They are something for an amateur sometimes-maker like me to aspire to.
