I am sure that is true, but it does help that one made it oneself as there is less reason to be critical. And I don't mean that in a cynical way. A lot of the point of what we do is that we make the stuff we want. There is a long list of ways in which the home made tool will be better for one, so even if it lacked a point here or there in raw edge holding (which is mainly a huge issue because it is one of the few things that is at least theoretically quantifiable), a win on everything else more than makes up for it.
