I like Bridger's idea of copper pipe.

I also think that switching to O1 bar stock is a good idea. IMO you're going to have a hard time figuring out and optimizing your processes if you don't know what you're working and how it's *supposed* to behave.

PS - Now might be a good time to read the parts of the Verhoeven book that are relevant to basic metallurgy and HT processes. There's something to be said for understanding why you're doing stuff.
