Kanna....well, I just bought a Nakano iron off of ebay for $45, and I got two vintage kamaji-backed 72mm irons off of the japanese proxy auctions for about $60 each (including a decent dai that just needs refitting).

I don't think there will be any kanna! Not that I could make one to begin with, other than filing out a piece of rikizai.

No ventilation needed for that kind of forge, it's just a small insulation wrapped can so that you can heat small items. My other method of heat treatment is a giant weed torch, which is difficult to get close to due to the level of heat - this is just a way to be able to do small stuff in the garage without adding a lot of overhead.
