You should make the planes. Just make a couple that you would want and see if you can sell them. If they sell make a couple more.

You're right about having to make to others' specs, I ended up doing a lot more of that than I liked and it can be trouble. But the flip side is the custom stuff often generates talk and referrals in your niche. It can be a delicate balance to maintain, just enough custom to keep it all fresh, but enough standard stuff to be profitable.
