Where's the picture you're referring to?

Narex steel is reasonably easy to grind, probably most similar in that respect to O1. They describe it as "low-alloy, high-carbon" and I see no reason to question the "low-alloy" part. As Rc59-ish tool steels go it's fairly tough, ductile stuff that holds up well to chopping. That's about what you'd expect from something that's been treated to convert to lower bainite (the objective of austempering).

As I said before, their metallurgy is first rate, particularly when you take value into consideration. IMO it's more impressive to see a maker get good performance out of a low-cost steel/process than it is to see somebody make marginal gains by splashing out big $$$ on unobtainium alloys.
