Fiberboard planes ()

I imagine that there must have been a metric crap ton of these planes stuffed in company and distributor warehouses after that brief fad...I can just see the Planecraft editor at Record getting a call from the VP of sales circa late 1950's and telling him to stick a chapter in the book hawking fiberboard tools.

I know we had better materials by the 1960's but my grandad loved the stuff (and died of emphysema...coincidence???) - made me a very cool 4' or so long battleship...some pine scraps and lots and lots of 1/8" brown stuff for planking, decks, etc. Being 8, I promptly dragged it to the local park's duck pond and gave it a dunk. Not my favorite memory watching the ship try to drink the pond dry.
