I never heard of Paul until probably 5 years ago, 3? who knows? I see he's got a piece in the white house (apparently, he knows GWB or had met him at some point). I never really looked at it until yesterday, but it's not of the class of work that someone like George could do. It's actually quite nice, but bits of the design look a bit off.

I know who Alan Peters is. Charlie tells me I'm nuts for thinking George is in a class with Alan as a maker and designer. I think Alan's stuff is wonderful, but George could make any of it and the converse isn't true (if you flip names). Notwithstanding the fact that they are very different makers, and both excellent.

Why do I bring up George so much? Because you can literally pick the phone up and call him (but only because he's retired - he didn't exist on the internet before then, other than some people posting about his guitars and maybe some references to him). If there were 10 other guys like him, we'd be talking about the group of guys like George, but most of the others are not accessible. I appreciate George's design sense, too, because he's not much for anything post art-deco. Neither am I, but our tastes aren't fact even though we sometimes convince ourselves that they are.
