But to those that keep saying this was "lost" I will tell you it may have been lost to you, and you can make whatever excuse you want for that, but it was always knowledge that was known and available in this brilliant age of information.

I've said repeatedly, in the other thread, that the knowledge was never actually lost. David and others said it too. We've pointed out concrete examples of how it was not lost. Yet you and other continue to distort what we've said, I guess because arguing with strawmen is always easier.

For the last time, what we've actually said, and supported with evidence, is:
* credible discussion of chipbreakers was entirely absent from forums.
*credible discussion of chipbreakers was almost entirely absent from the woodworking
press.
* on the other hand, alternatives to the chipbreaker were very widely discussed in the press and on forums.
* proper use of chipbreakers does not seem to have been taught by well-known woodworking instructors.
* planemakers post 1980, large and small, were almost entirely unaware of how to use the chipbreaker.
* to this day, influential figures continue to dismiss the chipbreaker as a viable means of controlling tearout.

If you've got a serious response to all of this evidence, let's hear it. But please stop twisting my words so you can make your argument more easily.

Even if we take the "I knew it all along" chorus seriously, what does it prove? That you're smarter and better than all the schlubs on forums? Congratulations.

Feel free to reply, but I'm done with this topic.
