Michael, the reason why the KC saws came with the existing handle was to keep down costs. I discussed this many times with Lee. He provided a link to a custom handle maker on his website but, frankly, the saw is still very good with the original handle. I just believe the saw is better with the longer handle. My handles cost nil - I made them myself.

As to the extra cost for the new knobs, I know that these were costly. Only Lee Valley replace items for free when there is an upgrade. Do other companies do this?

With regard the Blue Spruce saw, which looks as stunning as do all their tools, keep in mind that it is a coping saw, and not a fretsaw. It does look to be a great design (also has the facility to turn the blade 360 degrees).

Regards from Perth

Derek
