They certainly aren't historically correct, but I like the Aluminum Dubuques. They aren't as stout as proper pipe clamps, but I can get a whole lot more of them on the work for the same weight.

As you say K-bodies only make sense in certain circumstances. For most stuff it's just a lot of weight and hassle.
