What you have tested is edge holding ability in the hard abrasive woods you use. Your assumption that this test is an accurate proxy for edge holding ability in any other material is just an assumption. D.W. has presented some data that seems to indicate a different curve in different materials. Are you able to look at the data on it's own merits? It may well be that there are faults in his methodology- there is a glaringly obvious one in yours.
