Two different saws...Fine Woodworking reviewed the standard 0.020" Lie-Nielsen DT saw - not the tapered, thin plate (0.015") Lie-Nielsen DT saw. I've owned and used all three, as well as the LV, and the newest LN saw is a different animal - easier starting and faster cutting than the older LN saws. While I never thought the IT or the LN standard were hard starting, they did require the user to learn a little about sawing technique and to pay attention.

As Patrick mentioned, the photo shows a much greater angle than 5 degrees, but that could be either an error on the part of the review's author or the fact that the saw reviewed was not the one I photographed.
