David, I have four rip-filed joinery saws from LN. None of them had zero degree rake filing that I can recall. Certainly none of them now do. A call to LN can confirm this, I'm sure.

As to the original question, your evaluation of the brands is similar to mine. There is no need for 20 tpi filing unless you are making snuff boxes. I have a nice saw with that filing that I seldom use because I never want to have to file and reset those teeth! Many infrequent users of a dovetail saw choose the LV saws because they are a good value, and I can't argue that.
