No doubt the frame of the KC fretsaw is strong/stiff enough to resist twisting or bending if the saw was pushed instead of pulled. However, there is another reason to pull rather than push the saw, and this lies with ergonomics. Your mileage may vary, but I do not like using a gent saw (which is a Western dovetail saw with a straight handle). If using a straight handle, I prefer to pull it, as with a Japanese saw.
