It seems like it would depend on whether you apply it to the saw plate or the teeth. What would keep paraffin from filling the gullets and sticking to saw dust in the teeth? Sure, it has a higher melting point than beeswax, but a little friction will soon warm the teeth and the wax and start to liquify it.
