In freehand, unjigged work, the strength of handtool design speaks the most.
Kees, when looking at the handles of these saws, ignoring the fact that we know that they were built in 1796, how do you determine that the quality of the work was due to the use of hand tools, per se, or that of an individual workman, who may have used a variety of methods?
