That is the first time I see someone using austempering for chisels. I didn't know you could get the steel hard enough with a bainite structure.

When reading up on all things steel, I came along this austempering but didn't really pay much attention. It is not very suitable for the backyard shop. Working with molten salts is as dangerous as it gets! I am sure they have a good handle on it in the Narex factory, but the idea of blowing up my garage (with me inside) didn't really appeal to me...
