The stone was in reasonable condition for its age, albeit years of contaminated oil that was impeding its cutting action.

A word of caution. (Never attempt to remove the manufacturers oil fill from a Norton Carborundum/Crystolon Stone.)

Ingredients; a container of hot water, and 2 Powerball Dishwasher Tablets .

Results after 30 min of soaking.

The process was repeated again using fresh hot water and Dishwasher Tablets. This was the end result;

Both primary surfaces the stone were then flattening using 220 grit adhered to a piece of float glass.

When the stone was retested, there was an obvious improvement within its abrasive cut.
