When I was 16 I begged my mother to get a high carbon, low chrome kitchen knife so I could put a fine edge on it. She bought a nice imported knife. Last year when we closed up her kitchen one of my sons took that knife and the spoon I made for Pam's spoon contest in 2005. When I reported this to my mother, she said "He has good taste".
