Turning Archive 2006
>I noticed a small crack on the outside of a rough turned bowl. It was only visible from the outside and did not appear to go very deep. I thought that I might be able to cut through the crack and remove it when I finished the bowl. When I turned the bowl, I found that the crack went a little deeper than I thought and I could not save the bowl. Are rough turned bowls worth turning once they start to check? Are the cracks sometimes small enough to turn past them? Thanks for your comments.
